How to be the Church:  A Three-Part Workshop

Stage One: Setting the Vision in the Fellowship
 

This one day workshop will train congregational leaders, pastors and laity, in how to develop vision in their congregations.  Participants will learn:

 --That a vision cannot be imposed but must be developed from the members.

 --That the individual visions of the members will grow out of their sense of identity in Jesus.

 --That visioning is the first step in behavioral change and in the development of ministry and mission by the members.

 --That the pre-requisite for a healthy and effective visioning process is healthy and effective members.

 The goal of the workshop is to train the participants to go home and lead their people through this process to new life in their congregations.

Stage Two:  Building the Institutional Life of the Church 

This one day workshop will train congregational leaders, pastors and laity, in how to manage the work of their congregations for ministry and mission in their community and in the world.  Participants will learn:

 --That programs do not revitalize a congregation.  Programs grow out of a previous spiritual renewal of the people.

 --That the personal renewal of the members must lead them into a united commitment to achieve goals that express their vision for ministry and mission.

 --That the process of decision making, delegation, and program conduct must unite the congregation into a unity of purpose and action.

 --That program evaluation must always lead the members back to their spiritual foundation in Jesus Christ.

 The goal of the workshop is to train participants in how to structure the institutional life of the church so that it is constantly guided by the spiritual faith and values that are its foundation.

Stage Three:  Normalizing Change in the Church 

This one day workshop will train congregational leaders, pastors and laity, in how change can support the tenants and traditions of their church AND create lively and relevant expressions of that faith for themselves and for their community.

Participants will learn:

 --The process of change is natural to the church because of our participation in the death and resurrection of Jesus.

 --Change occurs in the Church through the renewing and life-giving power of the Holy Spirit in our hearts and is exercised by our Spirit-given gifts.

 --Congregations, or their members, who focus on externals have replaced trust in Christ with other forms of security.

 --The process of change must be built on the foundations of our Christian faith.  From there it must proceed carefully and judiciously in phases toward its completion.

 The goal of the workshop is to train participants that change is normative for the church.  It is God who introduces change into our fellowship, for our sake and for the sake of the community we serve.  The gospel requires change; in us, in our churches, and in our communities.
 

Cost of the Workshop

             Each one day seminar is $75.00.  Get two for $150.00.   Purchase all three for $200.00
Church group fee (requires at least 5 persons) $60.00 a person per workshop.

NOTE: An individual may purchase and come to the first workshop and may then decide to come to the other two for an additional payment of $125.00.  Cancellations are not permitted for the three day rate, but reservations may be transferred to others.
